Accredited Confined Space Training in Northern Ireland
About this Course
Confined spaces kill through toxic gas, lack of oxygen, flooding and entrapment, and many deaths are would-be rescuers. Under the Confined Spaces Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999, anyone entering a confined space must be trained and competent for the work.
This one-day course gives your team that competence. Delegates learn to assess the space, test the atmosphere, use the right equipment, and get themselves out safely with escape breathing apparatus if conditions change. Training takes place in a real rig, not a classroom mock-up.
Who Should Attend
This course suits anyone who enters, or supervises entry into, a confined space in Northern Ireland, including:
Water, wastewater and sewer operatives, including NI Water contractors
Utility, telecoms and cable jointers working in chambers and manholes
Construction, civils and drainage crews
Maintenance and engineering staff in manufacturing, food, agri and pharma plants
Farm workers entering slurry tanks, grain stores or feed bins
Supervisors, engineers and safety managers who plan or sign off confined space work
All delegates must be physically fit, as the course includes practical entry exercises.
Course Aims
To give delegates the knowledge and practical skill to plan, enter, work in and exit a confined space safely, including self-rescue with escape breathing apparatus.
Delegates will understand their legal duties and be able to apply a safe system of work using industry-standard confined space equipment.
