EUSR Category 1 & 2 Combined – Locate Utility Services and Implement Safe Digging Excavating Practices

Who Should Attend:

This course is well-suited for delegates engaged in excavation work across various settings such as roads, construction sites, parks, and industrial estates, among others and those seeking to enforce safe digging and excavation practices to reduce risks.

Prerequisites:

Candidates should bring suitable Personal Protective Equipment such as Safety Boots, Helmet, Gloves, Hi-Vis Coat or Vest and Hearing Protection.

Course Aim: This training aims to instruct delegates on the proper utilization of standard location equipment for identifying underground services. Additionally, it addresses the recognition of typical services and techniques employed for locating services that are not detectable using the equipment. It also comprises theoretical and practical assessments aimed at enhancing the knowledge necessary for individuals engaged in safe excavation and maintenance of holes and trenches. It covers the use of both manual and handheld power tools.

Learning Outcomes:

• Interpret utility plan drawings and identify symbols and coded information.
• Prepare and use location equipment to locate a range of underground services.
• Identify the dangers and hazards associated with underground services.
• Recognise why some services are more difficult to locate.
• Carry out site marking using appropriate methods.
• Ensure all necessary location, marking and site safety provisions have been carried out correctly prior to any excavation work commencing.
