IPAF Harness Use (HU) & Awareness (HA)

Who should attend?

The IPAF programme is for any operator, supervisor or manager required to select, manage and plan the correct use of Harnesses use in a MEWP.

Course Aim:

To instruct the candidate in the basic theoretical and practical knowledge required to understand how to correctly select and use a harness for safe operation of MEWPs.

Learning outcomes:

• Select harnesses and lanyards for use in MEWPs
• Manage and supervise use of harnesses and lanyards for use in MEWPs
• Create safe systems of work for harness and lanyard use in MEWPs
• Health and safety at work legislation and regulations
• Identifying all types of arrest and restraint equipment
• Selecting fall arrest and restraint equipment
• Traceability
• CE markings
• Correct fitting of harnesses
• Shock absorbing lanyards and fall arrest blocks
• Anchor points and connectors

Be aware and confident of:

• Selecting the correct work equipment and restraint systems
• Putting on a harness correctly

Assessment Method:

The course will consist of classroom-based tutorials, demonstrations and practical and written tests.

Successful candidates will receive a digital Powered Access Licence (PAL) upon downloading the IPAF ePAL app, however physical PAL cards can be granted upon request at an additional cost. The certificate is valid for 5 years.
