Who Should Attend
This course is designed for Operatives and Supervisors who have to locate underground apparatus for work on the roadways and highways.
Prerequisites
Delegates must be ages 16 or over and medically fit in line with current industry requirements.
Aim
This training is crucial for both operatives and supervisors, providing them with a solid understanding of the legal framework, key safety principles, and the practical responsibilities involved in NRSW activities. Participants will also examine relevant legislation, learn how to maintain safety compliance, and gain clarity on the correct procedures, required documentation, and classification standards.
Learning Outcomes
To successfully complete this course, candidates must be able to:
- Evaluation of risks highlighting the critical need to precisely identify underground utilities.
- Overview of subsurface infrastructure, with guidance on reading and interpreting utility plans and maps, as well as identifying and understanding the function of various street furniture.
- Proper operation of cable locating devices across all settings, along with a clear understanding of their capabilities and limitations.
- Awareness of when manual excavation is necessary, including the process and purpose of digging trial holes.
