Q019 (CD1)– Core Drilling

Who should attend?

Operatives working on the Openreach underground network and other third-party-owned UG telecom networks carrying out modular joint box installations or repairs.

Course Aim:

Learners will work towards a civils qualification for operatives and engineers that teaches safe and compliant core drilling into underground telecoms jointing chambers

Learning Outcomes:

• Site surveys, documentation, and planning for safe excavation.
• Selection of appropriate materials and equipment.
• Techniques for core drilling into different jointing chambers (concrete, modular, brick, plastic).
•  Installing Duct 54, 56, and other small ducts.
• Adherence to Openreach specifications, safety compliance, and legal requirements.
• Safe digging practices and proper reinstatement of the site.

Pre-requisites

SA006, NRSWA Unit LA,U 01, 02, 03.

Assessment Method:

This Q019 training course combines theory and practical training methods to ensure delegates gain the knowledge required to prepare them for their assessment. Practical demonstrations and hands-on training is conducted throughout the course.

Certification:

Upon Successful completion of the course, candidates will be issued with a Openreach Certificate valid for 3 years.
