Aim
The aim of the S5 PIA Pole Survey course is for engineers and contractors working on Openreach infrastructure to gain their S5 Pole Survey certification.
Objectives
This accreditation covers 3 modules:
Module one training is designed to deepen candidates’ knowledge of the Openreach Overhead Infrastructure. It covers key components, operational aspects, and emphasizes both theoretical concepts and practical applications. This training equips candidates with the expertise needed for troubleshooting, maintenance, and efficient utilization of Openreach’s overhead network, laying a solid foundation for their telecommunications career.
Module two training is designed to equip candidates with essential skills for safely conducting Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) Pole Surveys at Openreach. Emphasising practical expertise and safety protocols, participants gain confidence in executing surveys efficiently by the end of the module.
Module three accreditation assesses candidates by evaluating their competency in conducting effective Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) Pole Surveys at Openreach, ensuring they possess the necessary expertise for proficient survey completion.
Pre-Requisites
To be able to attend and complete the S005 PIA Pole Survey course, you will need to have previously completed and hold the SA001 Overhead Safety certificate.

Training Method/Assessment
Candidates will be assessed on their knowledge by demonstrating the competency required to complete an effective PIA Pole Survey.
