SA022 Smart Awards – Safe Location and Avoidance

Who should attend?

This course is designed for people who need to safely locate and avoid underground services such as gas, electricity, mains water, sewage and telecommunications as part of their job.

Aim

This course provides learners with the knowledge and skills of planning, safely locating and avoiding underground services.

Objective

• Know relevant health and safety legislation and industry good practice when working on site.
• Know how to  physically identify methods of underground services (e.g. site visual surveys and interpreting any drawings)
• Know how to use cable avoidance tools and accessories to detect, trance and mark clearly where services have been found
• Know how to prevent risk of harm to people on site and damage to the services.

Pre-Requisites

This accreditation is available to anyone over the age of 16 who is capable of reaching the required standard.

Accreditation

Upon Successful completion of the course, candidates will be issued with a Smart Awards Certificate valid for 3 years.
