This course is suitable for individuals employed in arboriculture, forestry, horticulture, landscaping, or grounds maintenance who operate a woodchipper.

Course Aim: This course aims to train industrial workers in the safe and efficient operation of wood chippers. Instruction will encompass the fundamental aspects of operating mobile wood chippers, including those mounted on trailers and tractors.
Learning Outcomes:
Understand the legal requirements relating to operating a portable wood-chipper.
Identify and comply with the relevant manufacturer’s instructions manual.
Identify various hazards associated with the use of wood-chippers including noise, vibration, entanglement, ejection of material being chipped and manual handling.
Identify key controls, functions and any required pre-use checks.
Prepare the wood-chipper for operation including fuelling operations.
Carry out any basic routine maintenance to the wood- chipper safely and efficiently.
Identify the most suitable areas for siting the wood-chipper.
Store and transport the wood-chipper safely.
Carry out any required shut-down checks.
Identify all PPE requirements relating to the wood-chipper.
